Student Audio-Guided Tours for Special Exhibitions
All special exhibition tours are available for grades 2–12 unless otherwise noted. Complimentary study guides are provided with classroom connection. Discounted pricing for student groups is $6 per student. One chaperone for every seven students is required (one chaperone admission is free; additional chaperones are discounted to $15 each)

Student Docent-led Tours for the Permanent Collection
A docent (from the Latin docere, meaning "to teach") is a special volunteer who is trained to facilitate the educational experience of the Museum's visitors. Docents are more than tour guides; they are teachers whose classroom is the gallery. Consider docents an important resource for meeting the academic objectives of your students' Museum tour. Docent tours are available on a limited basis, so please call early to avoid disappointment.

This introductory tour of the High's permanent collection focuses on the fundamental elements of art—line, color, light, and composition. Students will learn the language of art and identify the basic building blocks of visual expression. Students will have the opportunity to produce their own works of art and make the connection between works in the Museum's collection and art-making by participating in special age-appropriate hands-on activities. Space is limited to 50 students per morning.

Highlights

(Grades K–12)

This year Highlights tours offers students an overview of the High's collection through an engaging compare-and-contrast tour of selected objects. Students will use questions, observations, and discussion to discover meaning in works of art that span the fourteenth to the twenty-first centuries.

Price: $6 per students; 1 chaperone for every 10 students required - required chaperones admitted for free; additional chaperones are discounted to $15 each.

I See Literacy

(Grade 4)

The I See Literacy tour offers fourth-grade educators and students an innovative, cross-disciplinary approach to mastering literacy skills using works of art. The tour reinforces skills in constructing meaning through the spectrum of literacy (reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing). The I See Literacy curriculum-based classroom materials prepare students for their Museum visit with language arts lessons and hands-on visual art activities. They also include post-tour lessons that allow the field trip to serve as a springboard for stories, bookmaking, and much more! Space is limited to 120 students. Learn more information about I See Literacy.

Price: $6 per students; 1 chaperone for every 10 students required - required chaperones admitted for free; additional chaperones are discounted to $15 each.

Support for I See Literacy tours for the 2006-2007 school year is provided by Publix Super Markets Charities.   Publix2

I See History

(Grade 5)

By connecting prior classroom experience and gallery activities with the High's permanent collection and other historical artifacts, students will explore American history. I See History is guided by the essential question, "What can we learn about people from what they made, owned, and used?" Major tour themes are transportation, technology, civics, lifestyle, and industry. The curriculum-based classroom materials provide pre-tour preparation materials and post-tour timeline-based activities. Space is limited to 120 students.

Price: $6 per students; 1 chaperone for every 10 students required - required chaperones admitted for free; additional chaperones are discounted to $15 each.
