Book Drive – November 29 through January 12
Give a child the gift of reading! Throughout the holiday season, the High is hosting a book drive to benefit metro Atlanta’s Sheltering Arms Centers and City of Refuge. If you would like to donate to the book drive, please bring a new children’s book or pick one up in the Museum Shop for 20% off.
Research shows that reading to young children (ages 6 months to 5 years) not only provides healthy together time for caregivers and children, it also offers many lifelong benefits, including increased vocabulary, curiosity, and memory; positive associations with books and reading; and a foundation for scholastic success.
Books from the High Museum Book Drive benefit Sheltering Arms, which provides high‐quality early education, child care and comprehensive family support services to more than 3,500 children and their families annually at 14 metropolitan Atlanta locations in Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton and Gwinnett counties.
Books also benefit City of Refuge‘s Youth Development Program. Through supportive services fueled by innovation and collaboration with our on-site partners, City of Refuge seeks to lead individuals and families on an uninterrupted journey to self-sufficiency.
The book drive is in participation of Fair Saturday. For information on Fair Saturday, visit https://fairsaturday.org.
