Ellsworth Kelly

Powder coated aluminum

Accession #

2005.289 a-c

60 3/4 x 230 inches

On View - Wieland Pavilion, Taylor Lobby

Ellsworth Kelly consistently pursued a vision that repudiates illusion and artifice. For more than fifty years the artist pursued a consistent language in his compositions that is dependent upon intuitive yet highly precise balances of shape, space, and pure color. This three-panel sculpture comprises three joined sections of aluminum of differing widths painted in blue, green, and red that project slightly from the wall, calling attention to its status as sculpture.

Gift of Lindsey Wieland Parker and John F. Wieland, Jr. in honor of Susan W. and John F. Wieland, whose love of art has inspired their own
