Description

Paintings that refuse to be such make up the Reconstruction series of Lucas Samaras; they ask, “What exactly is being reconstructed?” Vibrant geometric collisions characterize these works, which violate the cool rationality of the grid with the chaotic arrangement of their component parts. Composed of numerous sewn fabric squares, the violent crisscrossing of its surface reflects an aggressive critique of beauty.
