Finster’s visionary universe in Paradise Garden teemed with angels. They glided through paintings, dwelled in mansions, guarded buildings, and graced signs, serving as spiritual messengers or guardians of earthly events. At one time, this imposing example was mounted in the center of Paradise Garden, her wings inscribed with the names of historical figures, the artist’s friends, and art-world acquaintances.
