We invite you to join art conversations, create art, enjoy performances, and explore world-class art—all day!
Join us for a day of free admission and drop-in programming for adults of all ages! Come as you are and stay as long as you like. See more information on the day’s programs and events below.
All programs are drop-in and first come, first served, unless otherwise noted.
Museum Galleries | 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m
How do different artworks approach similar ideas in unique ways? In these lively conversations, we will explore two different pieces to connect art across time, geography, identity, and belief.
Through Lines meets at the first artwork location and lasts thirty to forty-five minutes. Please see below for times, artworks, and locations. Stools and assistive listening devices will be available and are highly recommended.
Open Studio: Color Combinations with Oil Sticks
Greene Family Education Center | 2–4 p.m.
Experiment, play, and exercise your creativity during Open Studio! This informal drop-in program encourages adults of all ages to explore different materials and techniques with guidance from High Museum of Art teaching artists. Materials will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary.
This month we will explore mixing colors using oil sticks. Looking at artists such as Sean Scully and Stanley Whitney for inspiration, we will experiment with bars of oil paint to create stimulating color interactions.
Robinson Atrium | 2 and 3 p.m.
Enjoy live jazz from Atlanta musicians as they layer notes and improvise melodies for a special daytime experience. This month’s performer is vocalist and entertainer The Joanne Smith Experience. Limited seating available. Each performance lasts approximately forty-five minutes.
Dance Lab with Dance Canvas
Anne Cox Chambers Wing Lobby | 10:30 a.m.–12 noon
Gain behind-the-scenes insights into the dance process through this open rehearsal with Dance Canvas’s artistic director and artists. Founded in 2008, Dance Canvas’ vision is to diversify the artistic voices in professional dance, grow opportunities for artists in the region, and attract new audiences.
Interested in more dance programming? Join us for Dance Lab, which uses the Anne Cox Chambers Wing Lobby as an incubator, allowing dancers and choreographers to practice their art and share their works-in-progress with the public.
Interested in more mindfulness-based activities? Join us on the second Friday of every month for Oasis, where we invite visitors to embrace the present moment and use the museum as a space for deep reflection, art making, and movement.
Join us for an activation featuring mindful movement and sound activations facilitated by an instructor. We encourage you to get comfortable and be ready to recharge your heart and soul in an immersive full-body experience. Come and go as you please. Stay tuned for more details!
