Event Description

Join us for the Art+Feminism Edit-a-Thon and be part of an international movement to improve coverage of women and the arts on Wikipedia. Wikipedia’s gender gap is well-documented. According to a 2011 survey, less than 10% of Wikipedia’s contributors were women. This leaves us with an alarming lack of representation in the world’s most popular online research tool.

Let’s change that.

During the Edit-a-Thon, visitors will update and create Wikipedia articles on subjects related to gender, art, and intersectional feminism, with a focus on artists in the High’s collection.

No Wikipedia experience necessary; We will provide tutorials for beginner Wikipedians. Even if you’re editing-averse, come by to show your support and enjoy additional activities. Bring your laptop, power cord, and ideas for articles. People of all gender identities are welcome.

Registration opens mid-February. For more information, or if you’d like to sign up a group, organization, or class, please email the Edit-a-Thon organizers.
