Event Description

Turn up the volume at the High with great music, signature drinks, and our reimagined galleries on the first Friday of every month. Our galleries stay open late for special tours, drawing demonstrations, live music, and featured guests. It’s happy hour meets art party from 6 to 9 p.m.

October HIGH Frequency Friday: YP Takeover

Young Professionals are taking over HIGH Frequency Friday! Now is your chance to mix, mingle, and network with our YP members. Enjoy our specialty Harlem cocktail as you prepare for a special scavenger hunt in the galleries! Join us on October 4 at our after-work art party.

What’s happening:

  • Step into Romare Bearden’s world with tonight’s specialty Harlem Cocktail, our version of an Old Fashioned.
  • Mingle with YPs from all over the city! Stop by the YP booth to learn about upcoming events and snap some photos in our millennial-themed photobooth.
  • Get to know our galleries and win fun prizes during the YP-sponsored scavenger hunt.
  • Experience pop-up style performances from global music collective OneBeat, in collaboration with Moving in the Spirit and presented in partnership with the Smithsonian Year of Music. Showcasing the talents of a diverse and multicultural group of artists, from the infectious rhythms of Cuba to the rolling melodies of the Sahara desert, this promises to be a one-of-a-kind event!
  • Drink and Draw: draw like an artist with instruction from Georgia State University drawing professor Michael Tolley as we learn about draping fabric.
  • Wind down in our galleries with docent-led tours of the permanent collection and our new special exhibition “Something Over Something Else”: Romare Bearden’s Profile Series.

Exhibitions on view during this HIGH Frequency Friday:
Strange Light: The Photography of Clarence John Laughlin
“Something Over Something Else”: Romare Bearden’s Profile Series
