On the second Sunday of each month we offer free admission for all visitors and special family-friendly programming from 1 to 4 p.m.

To help ensure your family has a great experience at the High Museum, check out our Second Sunday Social Story (información en español). This will give you a sense of what to expect during your visit.

Please note: Admission is free from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Programming takes place from 1 to 4 p.m

September 2017: Family Trees

What are your family’s origins? How do you connect the relationships among your ancestors? Trace the roots of the permanent collection as we explore images of family and nature.

The Jazz Tree “From its Roots to its Limbs” with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Sextet 
1, 2, and 3 p.m.

Location: Sifly Piazza, Robinson Atrium Rain Space

From its roots in New Orleans, to its branched in cities such as Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh and New York, jazz is uniquely identified by its place of origin, its stylistic transitions and the continued thirst for exploration. The Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Sextet will pay special musical homage to those who laid the foundation including Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet, and its continued musical evolution by such musicians as Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and many more!

Join the fun through an interactive children’s book experience inspired by the poems and stories in Ashley Bryan’s books.
