About the Artist
Mixed-media artist Lala Wellem creates nature-inspired, figurative, and contemporary designs using eco-friendly, nontoxic acrylic paints. She incorporates decorative papers, wallpapers, maps, and sheet music as well as banana leaf, cork, and wood veneers into her custom pieces. Lala also participates in local juried art festivals and the annual charity event Chairish the Future, benefiting the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta.
This event is inspired by Romare Bearden’s collaged artworks in the exhibition Something Over Something Else”: Romare Bearden’s Profile Series. While you’re here on the 28th, head to the High’s Hill Auditorium from 2 to 3 for a Curatorial Conversation offering an inside look into the exhibition. Reserve your tickets online.
