'St. Jerome in His Study' by Albrecht Dürer

Dürer Master Engravings

The exceptionally gifted Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer (German, 1471–1528) designated only three of his prints “master engravings.” Of these, the High owns two: Knight, Death, and the Devil and St. Jerome in His Study. These intricately detailed prints present unrivaled technical skill. Their ambiguous imagery is characteristic of Dürer’s intellectually rich work.
