The Bunnen Collection
Established from a 1983 gift by Atlanta-based collector and photographer Lucinda Weil Bunnen, the Bunnen Collection forms the core of the High Museum’s photography holdings. It bolstered the Museum’s strong collection of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century photographs with additional works by living artists. Guided by Mrs. Bunnen’s vision, the collection reflects artistic innovation and embraces a diversity of styles, processes, and approaches to photography. The Bunnen Collection now includes nearly six hundred objects, and the Museum’s dedicated photography galleries are named for Mrs. Bunnen in honor of her formative work in building this key segment of the collection.
