The Ruba Rombic line was introduced at the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company, a major American glass-making center located just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The soaring verticality of the Ruba Rombic vase connected it to the skyscrapers being erected in many American cities, particularly in New York, while the multi-planed surfaces were clearly inspired by the contemporary Cubist movement in painting and sculpture. The line was one of the true modernist glass lines introduced by an industrial manufacturer in the 1920s.
