Join us for a conversation reflecting on the Day With(out) Art 2025: Meet Us Where We’re At… films and their connection to people’s lived experiences. In this discussion, speakers engaging with the art and ideas presented in the films—including themes of creative expression, harm reduction, substance use, HIV, and visual culture—will explore how art can help us understand experiences beyond our own.

About the Speakers

Candace N. Meadows, MPH, is a public health practitioner, advocate, and creative strategist dedicated to advancing health equity through the power of art, culture, and storytelling. Candace currently serves as the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives at the Emory COMPASS Coordinating Center, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University—supporting the Gilead COMPASS Initiative®, a 10-year, more than $100 million commitment to organizations working to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Southern U.S. Candace earned a bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University and a Master of Public Health from Rollins School of Public Health.

Reginald Smith
is the Executive Director of the Reginald & Dionne Smith Foundation (RDSF), a holistic health practitioner, dynamic speaker, dedicated advocate, and author who lives and works in Atlanta. Through RDSF, Reginald is committed to improving the overall wellness of families affected by HIV, viral hepatitis, and substance use disorders by providing education, advocacy, resources, and direct linkage to care. At the heart of this mission are the Positive Attitudes 12-Step Support Groups, designed specifically for heterosexual families seeking healing and support. RDSF also hosts a virtual network, the Positive Attitudes and HeteroHIV podcasts, and maintains an active social media presence (@TheRDSF). Smith is the author of Resurrection: Participate in Your Own Salvation, or Be Complicit in Your Own Demise. Reggie is a Certified Peer Specialist for Addictions and a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. He has been living with HIV for 40 years and has been married to his wife, Dionne, since 1985. Together, they have four children and eight grandchildren.

Andrew Westover Ph.D. is the Eleanor McDonald Storza Deputy Director for Learning and Civic Engagement at the High Museum of Art. Westover regularly moderates public conversations and works to connect people with art to build a better Atlanta. An educator and ethicist, Westover’s previous positions include roles at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, J. Paul Getty Museum, and Smithsonian Institution, among others. Westover holds an MEd from Arizona State University, an MA in Religion from Claremont School of Theology, and an EdM and a PhD in education and ethics from Harvard University.
