About Studio Workshops
Studio Workshops are beginner-friendly art-making workshops inspired by artworks on view at the High. These workshops provide opportunities to experiment, play, and enjoy new art-making materials and processes. No prior experience is required. Studio Workshops are designed for adults, but all ages are welcome. This workshop is offered three times.
About Your Instructor
Janssen Robinson is an Atlanta-based artist and educator. As a child, he discovered his love of art through programs at the Butler Street YMCA. In middle school, he realized that creating art was a way to understand and navigate the world, which led him to the University of Georgia, where he studied scientific illustration and broadened his skills to include photography, graphic design, and videography. Today he works in graphic design and paints, both in his studio and at events. Through teaching, he strives to inspire others to embrace their creativity as a tool for growth and self-expression.

Drawing is more than an additive process! In this workshop, explore a variety of drawing techniques while looking to artworks in Ezrom Legae: Beasts for inspiration. Begin by coating your paper with graphite, charcoal, or Conté crayons, and practice adding and subtracting marks, lines, and shapes to create expressive drawings. Reveal forms by experimenting with different materials and erasers, and learn to convey space as you emphasize light and dark areas. At the end of the workshop, share your finished piece with fellow participants, and reflect on what emerged through your journey.
