Art After Loss

Loss and grief are a part of life, yet there are few spaces where we can openly acknowledge these experiences. Art museums offer space to reflect on the human experience and find community, enabling us to (re)connect with ourselves, others, and the world around us.

We invite adults who have experienced the death of a loved one and are interested in connecting with others to join a four-week art conversation group at the High Museum of Art. While art does not provide definitive answers for grief, it can offer different perspectives, new ideas, and expressive possibilities. Each week, we will spend time in the museum’s galleries discussing works of art that touch on ideas of self, community, loss, support, and change. Participants are invited to slow down, look closely, reflect, connect, and share as they like or simply be with one another in a supportive environment.

This program is facilitated by museum staff. For resources on local mental health professionals, please contact us using the information below.
