Summer Art Camp
Dive into art this summer at the High! Young artists will explore the museum’s galleries, learn about the museum’s collection and special exhibitions, and hone their skills in drawing, painting, and design to create original artworks.
Professional teaching artists will inspire your child to look closely, experiment with materials, and try new techniques. Our weeklong camps are designed to serve rising first through eighth graders.
Camp Schedule
Monday–Friday: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Morning drop-off: 8:30–9 a.m.
Afternoon pickup: 3:30–4 p.m.
Aftercare is available as an add-on for late pickups until 6 p.m.
The High Museum of Art reserves the right to cancel, change, or alter any program due to attendance.
Member Discounts
Not-Yet-Members: If you are not currently a member but would like to become one or renew an expired membership, simply select the camp you’d like to purchase below and then add a membership in the cart when prompted. Your discount will be applied before you finish your transaction.
If You Already Joined:If you just purchased a membership in a separate transaction, you will be able to access member prices within the hour. If it has been more than one hour since you purchased a membership and you still do not see the member price, please make sure to clear your cookies.
Camp Aftercare
Aftercare (4–6 p.m.): $95/week
Purchase aftercare when you register for camps.
Aftercare extends pickup during the week of camp until 6 p.m. During aftercare, campers will be fully supervised and will be able to create small art projects, play games, and enjoy free time.
Reminder: You must pick up your camper at the end of the camp day no later than 4 p.m. to ensure we can staff the aftercare program. Picking up your camper late will result in a late fee of $20 per 10 minutes, unless you have signed up for aftercare.

Week 1: Color Explosion!

June 2–6
Burst into a world of color in this fun-filled week where we will play with colors through different art forms. Whether through paintings, tie-dye, or collage, venture on a journey of color exploration!
Camper must be at least 5 years old to attend.
Week 2: Animals in Art

Lions and monkeys and art—oh, my! Get ready for a roaring good time with daily safaris through the galleries to discover animals in art from around the world. We’ll let our imaginations run wild while making animal-inspired artworks in the studio with paint, clay, fabric, and more!

Week 3: Superheroes and Villains

It’s art-making time! If you’re an aspiring superhero or are set on world domination, join us for a week of super fun. Discover your superpowers of art making as you portray your favorite villains and superheroes or create new ones!

Week 4: Sensory Art

Explore your senses this week as you create masterpieces with different textures, smells, and visual effects. Learn how to create art that makes sound, discover how to build things with your hands, and activate your sense of smell with art that tickles the nose.

Week 5: Stories and Art

July 7–11
This week you will hear stories written by some of our favorite authors and create fantastic art inspired by their characters and worlds, from hungry caterpillars to cookie-loving mice. Come join in on the fun!

Week 6: Space-Art Exploration

July 14–18
Blast off and discover out-of-this-world art as we explore day and night in the galleries. Find different constellations, splatter-paint a new universe, and investigate how to make prints using the sun.

Come explore the nature through art! Look at artworks in the galleries that show animals or that capture nature’s beauty. In the studio, use materials to create art that mimics or is inspired by the natural world, including sand paintings, animal portraits, or prints with leaves.
Week 2: Fantastic Voyages

June 9–13
This week we will sail the high seas in search of new lands, buried treasure, and deep-sea creatures. Create pirate ships, deep-diving mermaids, treasure maps, and more as you explore various materials such as clay, oil pastels, and acrylic paint. You never know what surprises await on this artsy voyage!
Week 3: You Can’t Do That at Art Camp!

We’re loosening camp rules for this extraordinary week. Get special access to the Greene Family Learning Gallery every day, plan a glow-in-the-dark camper rave, and build your own touchable art. Create artworks that are out of the norm such as giant piñatas, balloon animals, and more!
Week 4: HogwARTs!

Accio, campers! If you love Hogwarts, then grab your wand and get ready for a week of artistic wizardry. Each day will be devoted to a different class, and this year’s schedule includes Astronomy, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, Transfiguration, and Potions. Can you transfigure ordinary supplies into truly magical masterpieces? No need to wait on an owl—sign up now for your week at HogwARTs!

It’s a monster mash-up! Take inspiration from films, books, and your own imagination to create one-of-a-kind monster-themed art. Explore marvelous techniques and materials in this super fun week of creativity and play.

Dive into the world of art and discover how it can help us express ourselves! Explore the museum’s collection and learn about the different ways that artists express emotion through their art. Then, head to the studio to create unique art that reflects who you are.

From magic-wielding wizards to deep ocean mermaids and majestic dragons, jump into a world of pure fantasy as we create art inspired by mythical worlds. Dive into the sea where sea creatures lurk or capture a unicorn to join you on your adventure. Every day will be an exploration of the imagination!
Week 2: One-of-a-Kind Jewelry and Accessories

Make bold fashion statements this week with art you can wear! Find and be inspired by masks, jewelry, and clothing in the galleries. In the studio, flex your fingers with finger knitting, use cardboard to make armor, or work with leather to create awesome accessories. Define your style as you discover new ways to make wearable art!

Grab your magnifying glass! It’s time to miniaturize your maker skills by designing and creating buildings, furniture, figurines, and more at a teeny, tiny scale—small projects, big ideas!

The Loch Ness Monster? Swashbuckling pirates? Kings and queens from distant lands? For hundreds of years, artists have referred to myths and legends in their works of art. Take inspiration from Greek or Norse mythology—or create your own myth or legend—to create your own masterpieces.
Week 8: Clay: Vases and Faces

Join us as we explore the world of art journaling. This popular hobby involves watercolor, chalk, writing, stamping, and stickers. We’ll give you a journal to record your experiences inside and outside of camp and then show you different ways to decorate and layout your entries.
Week 4: Photography

Spend a week learning about different types of photography taken using Polaroids, digital cameras, or smartphone cameras. Learn how to create the perfect composition while exploring different equipment and tools, and then use the photographs you take to create collages and unique art pieces.
