After the breakthrough of the Leg Splint, Charles and Ray Eames set out to introduce plywood to the national market. Influenced by the latest research on parenting, the Eameses designed a suite of children’s furniture that would be affordable, sturdy, and light enough to move around, granting kids the freedom to endlessly modify their own living space. The chair, created from two pieces of bent plywood, features a heart-shaped cutout on the backrest, a sentimental detail that doubles as a handle.
