After struggling early in life to find a productive outlet for his obsession with and computer-like mastery of dates and calendars, George Widener began to create elaborate works of art that, for him, ascribe order and predictability to the chaos of time and historic tragedies. The unique skills fostered by his autism spectrum disorder allow Widener to see dates as part of the architecture of the world around us. In his game-board-like works such as Counter X2, he provides a window into his numerical and nodal vision of the world.
