This two-mile-long crumbling road connects Isle de Jean Charles and Pointe aux Chênes. Instead of open water on either side of the road, it was originally flanked by marshland full of land animals such as muskrats, otter, mink, and even deer. It had been subject to consistent erosion at the time, but more recent, rapid coastal erosion and management projects to levee and protect what little land remains have left nothing but water here. The road regularly washes out and prohibits access between the communities.
