Moisés Hernández’s studio explores cultural traditions, diverse local textures, and color experimentation. Designed in 2021, the Grana Chair is the result of a color study that investigated an innovative way of dyeing wood. The wood was immersed in hot water mixed with crushed cochineal bugs along with varying levels of acid and alkaline to create shades of color. This object intentionally refers to a traditional Latin American method of dyeing textiles to create a natural, more ecofriendly option for coloring wood.
