Monthly deliveries of Esso fuel oil, gasoline and kerosene are made to the island of Mano, four miles off the coast of Jutland, by a tank truck from the storage plant at Esbjerg. During ebb tide the sea between Mano and the mainland is low enough so that the loaded truck can cross in about half an hour following a track marked by dead trees pushed into the sandy bottom. After each trip the truck is washed thoroughly to prevent salt water corrosion. Fuel oil pumped into underground tanks at the dairy, gas and kerosene are delivered in metal containers.
