Sister Gertrude Morgan was called to preach in her thirties and devoted the rest of her life to evangelizing and caring for needy children. Morgan used this paper megaphone to sing and chant her gospel message from a kiosk at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Flying over the buildings below, Sister Gertrude sits beside Jesus in the cockpit of a small airplane. Just above them, Morgan has inscribed the words to one of her own poems, declaring, “Jesus is My Air Plane.”
