Eugène Louis Boudin occasionally went to Fervaques, a small village in Normandy, France near Livarot. There, he visited his friends, the Jaquette family, for whom he painted numerous works. This painting is a rare example of an impressionist landscape, rather than Boudin’s usual marine subject.
