Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic is committed to rethinking the forms of conventional, everyday products. Mayday—referring to the Mayday Festival, an annual rave music festival in Germany—is a portable lamp for task lighting, with a translucent funnel-shaped diffuser shade and a hook that facilitates hanging (but also functions as the decorative element). “It was a lamp I wanted to have for myself, a lamp that I felt should be something like a tool,” says Grcic, who designs for his busy, mobile lifestyle.
