Morning glories had special significance for Mattie Lou O’Kelley. They grew profusely around her tiny house in Maysville, Georgia—“just for me,” she said—and she often painted them in baskets brimming with floral splendor. “Sometimes I wish I had all the morning glories I ever painted and gave a morning glory show in the dead of winter,” she wrote.
