Jean-Charles Cazin worked from a studio overlooking the dunes and sea of northern France. That region is the setting of this casual and affectionate portrait of fellow artist Henri Duhem, who once owned this work. The painting may be a study for a larger work depicting the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan.
