Rag dolls and anthropomorphic figures populate Kojo Griffin’s paintings, which record the artist’s observations of human social behavior. Griffin’s psychologically charged art explores the moral and physical ramifications of human interaction. The strong influence of comic strips and children’s book illustrations is evident in Untitled through its emphasis on body language and spatial dimensions and its odd juxtapositions of characters in domestic spaces. Lurking beneath a seemingly saccharine exterior is subversive narrative content fraught with a sense of foreboding.
