Polish designer Marcin Rusak was born into a family of florists and grew up around lush gardens and decaying greenhouses, experiences that influenced his art making years later. While studying in London, he visited the city’s famed flower markets and was astonished by the waste they produced. Vas Florum 23 encases discarded flowers—some naturally occurring, others artificially engineered hybrids—in a matte bio-resin, creating a vase that comments on the global reach of the flower industry and the consumer practices that sustain it, as well as the human urge to perfect, preserve, and profit from nature.
