During the late 1960s, the Reverend Howard Finster began transforming swampy land around his Pennville, Georgia, home and repair shop into an environment that eventually became known as Paradise Garden. The High boasts the largest public collection of monumental sculptures, paintings, and other works from this celebrated garden museum. The eloquent concrete sculpture shown here illustrates Isaiah 11:9, a biblical passage that describes the peace that will reign on Earth with the coming of the Messiah.
