Chris Antemann (American, born 1970), designer and maker

Porcelain, luster, and decals

Accession #

10 x 13 x 15 inches

On View - Wieland Pavilion, Skyway, Gallery 421

Chris Antemann’s detailed porcelain figures exude both historic and contemporary influences within their playful, provocative riffs on a traditional form. Her ability to combine the conventional porcelain figurine made popular in the 18th century with personal, narrative twists gives her work a decidedly updated flair. Antemann takes the seemingly outdated porcelain figure and brings it into the 21st century by playfully revealing vignettes and often taboo glimpses into personal lives.
