How can erasing bring a drawing to life? Explore Ezrom Legae: Beasts and study the artist’s expressive use of space and form. Then, experiment with drawing through erasure: practice shading on paper with graphite, charcoal, or Conté crayons, and use erasers to reveal depth. As you practice omitting detail and embracing distortion, both absence and line will shape the figures that emerge from your drawings.

November Musing Together

Musing Together is a monthly art conversation program designed for individuals with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia and their care partners. Each month, High Museum of Art staff facilitate lively conversations focusing on four to six artworks on view in the High’s collection or special exhibitions.

Intermediate Painting: Color Mixing and Texture

Learn new ways to create paintings while experimenting with color systems and texture. Work from observation, memory, and imagination as you begin mixing colors using warm and cool color palettes. Explore brushstrokes, mark making, and value, and study color hue and saturation using a primary color wheel. Create a painting by combining methods for color mixing, color application, and texture learned throughout the class.

Studio Class: Exploring Surface Design on Fabric

Draw inspiration from fiber artists in the museum’s collection while experimenting with vibrant techniques like direct painting with fabric paint and dye pastes, stamping, mark making, and stitching, both by hand and machine.

Sensory-Friendly Evening

We invite adults of all ages who identify as disabled or neurodivergent to join us along with their friends and family for a Sensory-Friendly Evening. This after-hours program includes drop-in art-making workshops, wellness programs, and guides for exploring art and ideas in the galleries.
