Art and a Night of Mischief

The High turns 100 this year, and a century leaves a few ghosts in the halls. On Friday, October 30, we’re opening the doors after dark for A Haunting at 100, a Halloween party that takes over the whole museum. Dance in Taylor Lobby, gather around for ghost stories in the Atrium, slip into the galleries on an after-hours tour and raise a glass to our first hundred years.
Costumes aren’t required, but they are strongly encouraged.

Where the Spirits Gather

Taylor Lobby: The Dance Floor

DJ Mudra Mami will keep the crowd moving all evening. Get a themed drink at the cash bar, snap a pic in the photobooth, or swing by the Museum Shop. At 9 p.m., show off your look at our costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for the best couples costume, most creative, sexiest, scariest, funniest.

Atrium: The Haunt

Settle in for ghost stories from award-winning storyteller Amanda Lawrence, who takes you into Appalachian folklore at its finest through spellbinding stories that make up her chilling and thrilling one woman show, That Haint Right: Appalachian Ghost Stories.

Treat yourself at the candy bar or grab a drink at the cash bar, then strike a pose in front of the photo wall or linger at a candlelit table for art making and games. This is also where you sign up for gallery tours.

Orkin Terrace: The Lounge

Step outside to catch your breath or grab a bite from the El Ponce food cart. The Terrace has lounge seating and a spooky photobooth ready for your best costume shot.

Meet the DJ: Mudra Mami

Mudra Mami doesn’t just play a set. She reads the room. The genre-fluid DJ blends Afro House, R&B, hip-hop, amapiano, house, baile funk and global sounds into sets built for energy, emotion and movement. Whether she’s playing a nightclub, a hotel, a private party or a cultural event, her goal stays the same: bring people together, get them moving and make a night worth remembering. Consider this your sign to wear shoes you can dance in.
