Created by Chilean creative studio gt2P, Los Porfiados (The Stubborns) is inspired by the classic roly-poly wobbling toy known in Chile as “mono porfiado.” This installation comprises a landscape of fourteen inflatable, limber sculptures, some measuring up to seventeen feet tall, and invites visitors to interact with their pliable surfaces. The sculptures will come to life through human interaction and play, transforming the High’s Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza with collective movement that explores collaboration and the construction of public space. When activated, the sculptures become a living metaphor for resilience, understood not as rigidity, but as adaptability: the capacity to move with others, to be displaced and to return to balance. Each sculpture responds to individual action while also becoming part of a larger whole, created by accumulated gestures. In this way, the installation reflects how public space is not only designed but enacted and built through presence, interaction, and shared experience.

About gt2P

gt2P is a public art, architecture, and avant-garde design studio in Santiago, Chile, engaged in projects that span architecture, art, and design. The studio operates through a continuous process of research and experimentation in digital fabrication, fostering new connections between emerging design technologies and the richness of local traditions expressed through materials, craftsmanship, and techniques.

gt2P studio’s methodology is grounded in two complementary dimensions. The first focuses on the systematic observation and analysis of natural, artificial, geometric, and spatial phenomena through the use of generative algorithms. Parametric design serves as a central tool, guiding the planning and execution of projects while integrating the various stages of design, development, and production. The second dimension reflects the studio’s artistic engagement with cultural heritage. By incorporating traditional knowledge and lived experience into the generative systems it develops, the studio enriches and refines the underlying “DNA” of its work.

Embracing the unpredictability of handcraft and the unique qualities of local materials, gt2P creates projects that celebrate place, identity, and the intersection of innovation and tradition.
