Prints are the largest category in the High’s Modern and Contemporary Art collection, numbering more than 1,600 individual impressions and ranging across generations, styles, and techniques. Prints in the collection are predominantly American, ranging from the postwar period to the present. Many are grouped within portfolios, which present series of images related by form, subject, or content. Notable portfolios in the collection include Andy Warhol’s Marilyn series, Kara Walker’s The Means to an End … A Shadow Drama in Five Acts, Salvador Dali’s Ten Recipes for Immortality, Keith Haring’s Apocalypse, Wifredo Lam’s Contre une maison seche, and KAWS’s BLAME GAME. Also included are notable printworks by Georg Baselitz, Louise Bourgeois, José Luis Cuevas, David Driskell, Helen Frankenthaler, Lyle Ashton Harris, Ellsworth Kelly, R. B. Kitaj, Lee Krasner, Sol LeWitt, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Lobdell, Brice Marden, Julie Mehretu, Joan Mitchell, Pablo Picasso, Adrian Piper, and Kiki Smith, among many others.
