Program provides exclusive benefits and shared resources, further integrating the arts into collegiate curriculum
Benefits include free and discounted admission, event access, student exhibitions and more
ATLANTA, Nov. 12, 2024 — Emory University has joined the High Museum of Art as the newest member of its Academic Affiliate program, which over the past decade has redefined a new role for museums and their resources. The partnership provides access and exclusive benefits for Emory’s students, faculty and staff, allowing deepened connections between the university and the High’s collections, programs and scholarship.
“Just like Emory, the High is committed to being a place where diverse perspectives and voices come together to exchange ideas, foster growth, encourage creativity and help build a better future,” said the High’s Director Rand Suffolk. “Emory, and its museums and libraries, have long been partners to us in our shared spheres of art history and research, but this new partnership takes our collaboration to a new and exciting level.”
Valeda Dent, vice provost of Emory Libraries and the Michael C. Carlos Museum, said, “Emory has long engaged with the High for educational purposes, but now our students, faculty and staff can wonder, wander, teach and learn in the presence of some of the world’s most important collections, artists and art educators. The Academic Affiliates partnership is aligned with Emory’s focus on deepening community relationships, and we are very much looking forward to what lies ahead.”
The Academic Affiliate partnership provides benefits to Emory University’s students, faculty and staff, including:
• Free general admission on university-sponsored field trips and individual walk-up tickets
• Discounted memberships for students, faculty and staff
• One annual student art exhibition in the High’s Greene Family Education Center
• Up to four lectures or conversations led by High staff at the university
• Access to Hub @ the High, a dedicated meeting and event space for Academic Affiliate partners
“The Affiliate program opens new pathways for personal and professional growth for Emory students,” said Andrew Westover, the High’s Eleanor McDonald Storza deputy director, learning and civic engagement. “Students, staff and faculty will now find it easier to study and enjoy the High’s world-class art, and we look forward to collaborating with Emory faculty to welcome more classes to the museum.”
