October 21, 2024

ATLANTA, Oct. 21, 2024 — The High Museum of Art is pleased to announce that Caroline Maddox has joined the museum as deputy director, philanthropy. Maddox will lead the team responsible for the High’s contributed revenue, to include individual, corporate, foundation and government support, as well as the museum’s Wine Auction and David C. Driskell Prize Gala fundraisers.

“We’re thrilled that Caroline is joining the team. She is a proven, strategic fundraiser and, given the depth of her experience and perspective, I’m certain she’ll bring fresh leadership to this facet of the Museum’s efforts,” said the High’s Director Rand Suffolk.

“I am excited to join the High Museum of Art and look forward to working alongside a talented team to enhance the museum’s fundraising efforts and foster a culture of philanthropy that supports the High’s vibrant programs and initiatives,” said Maddox.

Throughout her career, Maddox has led complex, multimillion-dollar fundraising initiatives, including capital campaigns and cultivation of major gifts. In previous positions with the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the Georgia Museum of Art, she led strategic campaigns to expand audiences, build endowments and execute large-scale fundraising events. Most recently, she served as the vice president of advancement for South Arts, where she was responsible for assessing, planning, and building infrastructure necessary for creating a culture of philanthropy to support South Arts’ advancement effort.

Maddox earned a Ph.D. in art from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in art business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York, and bachelor’s degrees in art history and studio art from the University of Georgia. She is also an artist and a devoted practitioner and teacher of yoga.
