Defense The North Frisian law code asserted the right to take up arms in defense of the region. As seen in Grohs’s print, such a defense force would have been a flotilla. This is one of Grohs’s most beautiful print compositions. The repeated shapes of ships and sails create a strong rhythmic dynamic and, for all their realism, an almost abstract decorative pattern.
