Despite the two men at the table throwing up their food, a decapitated head lying on a plate, and Death carrying in the next course, the scene is filled with an amusing joviality. A painting hanging on the dining room wall of pigs being slaughtered obliquely suggests that the two gluttons deserve the same fate.
