Georgia artist J. B. Murray created this drawing as a thank-you gift for his friend and patron, Dr. William Rawlings, Jr., for taking him to Atlanta to see his work in a Piedmont Park art show. The trip was Murray’s first exposure to the city and its tall buildings. This celebratory expression of color, light, and form is a joyful response to the experience. It is a departure from the work Murray typically produced, which he believed to be divinely inspired.
