May 28 - NOW A SHRINE - The part of the balcony at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis where Dr. Martin Luther King was standing when he was shot in 1968 has now been turned into a shrine by the motel owner, Walter Bailey. The area is now enclosed in glass and artificial flowers hang from the door and either side of it. Two marble plaques marking to spot are to the left of the door.
